Policies
Therapy at home - For therapy to be successful we will require a safe, confidential, private space in which to have our conversations. If this is to be at your home, you will need to take responsibility for the suitability of the space. This will usually mean, amongst other things, that the building is empty, smoke free, and that there are no distractions or interruptions. Pets, I love dogs and cats personally, need to be discussed in advance. Other venues and formats for therapy can be discussed as we proceed.

Confidentiality and records - All sessions will be conducted in safe and confidential manner. Nothing of our work together is disclosed with the following exceptions:
-
You disclose a real danger to you or others, as outlined in the BACP ‘Ethical Framework For Good Practice In Counselling & Psychotherapy’.
-
You disclose evidence of child abuse.
-
You disclose information relating to serious crimes such as terrorism or breaching national security.
If we discover there is a need to communicate with other professionals, this will only proceed with your permission and knowledge of what is to be discussed. I keep minimal data on clients, which includes name and contact details. All information is securely stored.

Professional requirements - I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (bacp.co.uk), member number 00986511, registration number 409634. I am bound by its code of ethics and subject to its complaint procedure. I have a rolling DBS and public indemnity insurance. If you have any questions about any aspects of how we will work together, please feel free to ask. I welcome conversation, and I like clarity for both of us. Additional information will be provided in writing at our first session together.
Annual Leave
I will be unavailable between 22nd December 2025 - 4th January 2026 and 16th March 2026 and 29th March 2026.
